
Rodney Thompson, a self taught artist, has been working with encaustic for over a decade. Rodney has shown in galleries throughout the country and has contributed writing and artwork for four books on encaustic art. He has taught workshops and has provided presentations at several encaustic conferences on a variety of subjects. His business of making custom wood art panels is known throughout the encaustic community.

Creating a box for each of your encaustic paintings is a skill that can be learned. Rodney Thompson will provide a step by step process for creating a foam lined presentation and storage box for a 10”X10” encaustic work on cradled panel. In this hands-on workshop you will not only learn the process, but you will take home a new cradled panel made by Rodney and your own box to store it in. Other information regarding packaging for shipping will be discussed. Material Fee: $25 including one 10’x10’ cradled panel

Rodney Thompson was an artist in residence at Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona in 2011 and will be an artist in residence at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona in 2012. In this digital presentation he introduces you to the opportunities that exist with a National Park Residency program that allows you to pursue your artistic discipline surrounded by inspiring landscapes. He will discuss the various parks that offer residencies, the application process, expectations from the host Park along with his personal experience and how these experiences influenced his artwork.
