Painting the Figure in Encaustic $185 (Material fee $20 )

This class will cover basic encaustic painting for the encaustic and non-encaustic artist as it applies to capturing the figure in motion and at rest. The fluid quality of the wax and its ability to be applied in both translucent and opaque layers lends itself to the human figure. Willow Bader has modified the traditional encaustic pallet for her figurative work and has perfected the technique of scraping back layers to reveal movement. Topics include: Using a heated pallet, mixing colors with wax and oil, supports and grounds, combining drawing materials with encaustic paint and scraping and fusing with a torch. Painting and Drawing experience required.
